Eight Owatonna football players were named to the Big Southeast All-District team, including the Offensive Player of the Year. Four others earned a spot on the honorable mention team. Junior Jason Williamson landed the top offensive honor for the Red Division after racing for nearly 2,000 yards.

Offense was on full display in Owatonna's 59-34 state tournament football victory Saturday night over Mahtomedi at Lakeville North High School. The win propels the Huskies back to U.S. Bank Stadium for the semifinals for the second straight year. OHS will face Brainerd Saturday, November 18 at 7PM.

Owatonna is back at the state tournament, along with five others from last year's field of teams. The Huskies beat Apple Valley before losing to eventual state champ Elk River is 2016. The Eagles and Elks are back.

Owatonna scored all the points they would need in the opening minute of the Section 1-5A football championship game at OHS Friday night. Abe Havelka tossed a screen pass to Noah Budach in the right flat and he sprinted up the sideline for a 55-yard touchdown to put the Huskies up 7-0 just 54 seconds into the game. Owatonna went on to a 37-0 win over Rochester Century to repeat as section champs.

Owatonna football is back into the Section 1-5A final after making it all the way to the state semifinals at U.S. Bank Stadium last year. To the surprise of many, the Huskies host the title game after Rochester Century upset top seed Northfield in Saturday's semifinals.

On a day where top seed Northfield got upset and No. 1 ranked in the state Chaska lost, nothing could be taken for granted in Owatonna's match-up with Austin in Saturday's Section 1-5A football semifinal. The Huskies and Packers combined for over 100 points for the second time this season with Owatonna coming out on top 62-41.

Owatonna dominated New Prague 49-0 to wrap up the regular season Wednesday night. Senior quarterback Abe Havelka became the all-time leader in career touchdown passes with four to move past Colton Schock

The Huskies football team is facing adversity for the first time this season. After sending nearly every game through the first six weeks into running time, the Huskies dropped a 21-17 dual to Northfield Friday night in a battle of top-five clubs.

Northfield drove 74 yards in eight plays and 35 seconds, with no timeouts, and scored on an 11-yard touchdown pass with :18 left to beat top-rated Owatonna 21-17 at Memorial Field in Northfield Friday night

Owatonna football is averaging more than 500 yards of offense each game. Junior running back Jason Williamson is eating up the turf at a 190 yard per-game pace. The newly-minted No. 1-5A Huskies (6-0) faces possibly their toughest test of the regular season when they play at No. 5-5A Northfield (6-0) Friday night at 7PM.
