DNR officials are trying to determine why the average size of perch in Minnesota and Wisconsin has shrunk dramatically over the last 50 years.

A teenager broke the record for catch and release Northern Pike, while another angler tied the record for Muskie this past summer.

Early season goose and teal hunting opens Saturday in Minnesota. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON today. He says ammunition supplies are still a problem for hunters. Schmitt suggests to hunters that if they see the shells they plan on using for this fall which includes deer hunting to grab those.

He says license sales this year were about the same as last year. Glen thinks many people got back into fishing last year and those have stuck with it this year.
