The Steele County Healthy Seniors will have their fundraising golf tournament on Tuesday, July 11. It's especially important this year as Healthy Seniors made the decision to forego state and federal funding. About $30,000 must be found to make up the difference. The group wanted to remain a free service and not a service for a fee agency, which would be a requirement when accepting state and or federal money.

Sign in for the tourney begins at 11AM Tuesday at the Owatonna Country Club with a shotgun start at noon. A lunch will be available at 11:30AM before tee off. Dinner and an awards program will follow at 5PM. Registration is $115, or $400 for a foursome. Singles are welcome to sign up and will be paired with a foursome. Call (507) 446-3135.

Being a volunteer for Healthy Seniors can be as easy as an hour a month. It sometimes involves something as basic as a visit, a little help around the home or maybe a card game. There is a fairly large demand for volunteers in the Ellendale area.

You can learn more by going to the Healthy Seniors of Steele County website. A volunteer coordinator will be with the volunteer the first time they meet a senior.
