Steele County Salvation Army Kicks Off Kettle Campaign
The Steele County Salvation Army will host their Kettle Kick off party on Friday, November 18, from noon to 4PM at the store. It will be your opportunity to enjoy snacks and prizes and sign up to man a kettle and ring the Salvation Army bell this holiday season. The first kettles go out on Saturday, November 19, at area grocery stores: Fareway, HyVee and Cashwise Foods. The remaining sites will begin their campaign on Friday, November 25, at Walmart, Cabela's, Fleet Farm, Walgreens and Sterling.
The Salvation Army is looking for a two-hour commitment when signing up to ring the bell. Hours are weekdays from 10AM to 8PM and Saturdays from 8AM to 8PM. Eighty-seven percent of the money stays in Steele County.
Bell ringers are invited to dress up as they wish, but no Santa suits please. You can also wear clothing denoting who your group is. Churches, youth groups and nonprofits are invited to join in the campaign. There are indoor positions and outside positions.
