The Minnesota State High School League golf tournament begins Tuesday at three locations. Blooming Prairie's boys team is participating for the first time.

At least one Blooming Prairie player is familiar with the course as senior Tommy Braaten has qualified for state previously as an individual. The entire team got a chance for a practice round on Monday. The other Awesome Blossoms golfers are seniors Jon Hatch and Ethan Strunk and sophomores Lucas Noble and Jake Ressler. Blooming Prairie rallied from a five-stroke deficit in the section tournament to win their first title earlier this month.

Junior Taylor Christianson qualified for state for the third straight year. She finished in a tie for 12th place in 2015.

The girls have the morning tee times at Pebble Creek in Becker. The two-day event continues Wednesday.

Triton senior Jaden Thiemann is at state for the fourth time. He tied for seventh in 2015 after finishing one stroke out of the championship as a sophomore. The AA tournament is at Ridges of Sand Creek in Jordan.

The AAA tournament is at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids.
