I've apparently been missing out on some Halloween fun my whole life! There is an event, which happens around Halloween each year, that involves a car, another person, a flashlight, a pencil, and a strong sense of adventure. It's called the Tombstone Trail and it's run in part by volunteers with the Twin Cities Rally Club. This year's 'tour' starts at the covered bridge in Zumbrota!

According to the group's website, "the Tombstone Trail is one of the longest-running, best-attended car club events in Minnesota." The Tombstone Trail takes participants on a "scavenger hunt around rural Minnesota that they will not soon forget." The adventure also promises participants to "be prepared to visit some strange places!"

The first Tombstone Trail ran in 1978 with an emphasis on the time spent finding interesting things in cemeteries, the more remote, the better. The event grew year after year until the group finally had to start capping the entries.

This year's event is on October 30th, you'll have to sign up in a hurry if you plan to participate, and will take you across rural Minnesota ending in Red Wing according to a Facebook post by the group.

Also a little different this year, is that the scavenger hunt will happen with daylight as many bars and restaurants are struggling to hire individuals and the group didn't want to be a huge burden on area bars and restaurants along the way.

So if you are looking for a really unique Halloween-type event that takes you to places off the beaten path maybe get signed up and give this a chance.
