
Spirit Fest is Saturday in Faribault
Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault invites everyone to enjoy Spirit Fest this Saturday, September 18, 2021 on their campus.
A lot of fun activities are planned for the event for kids of all ages.
Father Louie told KDHL AM Minnesota listeners Wednesday the priest competition was pre-recorded and "A hoot" to participate in.
Other guests on the program included President of the Spirit Fest Committee Jeremy Gibbs, Committee members Todd Rost and Christine Shaffer-Brown.
- A silent auction with over 80 items closes on Sunday, September 19, 2021.
- 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021 Indoor and Outdoor Mass will be held with music from Megonia.
- 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Lots of food and entertainment can be experienced. Indoor and outdoor dinner (Smoked Turkey Legs and Pulled Pork Sandwiches). The indoor meal includes some other items. Outdoors there will also be food trucks including some Mexican food and Temple's Concessions will be bringing their cheese curds. Lots of kid's activities including face painting. beer garden, live music. The Priest competition of Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader also takes place.
- 7:00 p.m. Drive-In Movie will be shown. Bring your lawn chairs or watch from your vehicle.
- Fireworks follow the movie and our guests said they will be even larger than last year.
When Divine Mercy Catholic Church was built it was dedicated in 2009 and the Spirit Fest event was moved from the Rice County Fairgrounds to the church campus.
Divine Mercy is the merger of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Lawrence Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
The first Mass in Faribault was conducted in the home of Alexander Faribault in 1847.
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church was established by Bishop Joseph Cretin in 1856. It was originally called St. Ann Church.
St. Lawrence Church Cemetery was started by St. Lawrence Catholic Church in 1871 and moved to it's present location in 1917.
Sacred Heart Catholic Church baptismal records date back to 1879.
