Sharon A. Pirkl, 82, Faribault

Sharon A. Pirkl, age 82, of Faribault, MN, passed away Monday, April 8, 2024, at the Northfield Hospital following a brief illness.

Sharon Ann was born on December 30, 1941, in Faribault, MN, the daughter of Bernard and Dorothy (Kiel) Kelsey. She was married to Richard J. Pirkl Sr. on September 12, 1959. For many years Sharon handled the deliveries for Kay’s Floral, which became a great outlet for her to socialize with others. She also loved socializing with her friends at coffee time at Wimpy’s. Sharon enjoyed camping, fishing, and family time.

She is survived by her husband, Dick Pirkl; son, Rick Pirkl (wife, Kim) and grandson, Cody (fiancé, Cheyenne); daughter, Sue Bauer, and grandchildren, Colin, Austin, and Madison; six great grandchildren; siblings, Kay Kes, Bob DeGroot (Lois), Ardis Moldenhauer (Al), Buck DeGroot (Marilee), and JR DeGroot; sister-in-law, Kathy Kelsey; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bernard Kelsey; mother, Dorothy DeGroot; and stepfather, Arthur DeGroot; brothers, Eugene Kelsey, and Donald DeGroot; sister, Elaine Kelsey; and brother-in-law, Jerry Kes.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault, with Rev. Henry Doyle, officiating.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
