Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) – The Rochester Police Department has named a prime suspect for a recent armed robbery and is seeking the public's assistance in locating him.

Based on a description provided by the female clerk at the Shell-Apollo Convenience Store and a clear image captured by the business’ security video system, investigators say they believe 21-year-old Jeremy Garcia was the person who displayed a handgun while robbing the store along Fourth Street Southeast late Monday afternoon. After demanding cash from the store clerk, the robber grabbed about $1000 from two cash registers and fled on foot.

Rochester police say Garcia has ties to Rochester, Austin, and Eagle Pass, Texas. At the time of the Rochester hold up, Garcia was wanted on a warrant issued by Mower County for failure to meet the terms of his probation for a robbery conviction last November. His criminal history also includes an arrest in Texas for a similar robbery in 2016.

In requesting the public's help, the police department notes Garcia has a number of distinguishable tattoos of letters and symbols on his upper face. Officials also say his criminal history and the brazen actions during the Rochester robbery suggest that he should be considered dangerous and desperate.

If anyone spots Garcia, they should not approach him and should immediately call 911. Information can also be passed along by calling Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, which allows the caller to remain anonymous and allows for the possibility of a reward if the tip leads to his arrest.
