Rochester Man With Multiple DUI Convictions Guilty of DUI Crash
Austin, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has entered into a plea agreement in a criminal case stemming from a drunk driving crash last December that occurred while he was on probation for a felony DUI conviction.
33-year-old Jacob Kaput today entered a guilty plea to a first-degree DWI charge in Mower County. In exchange for the admission to the felony-level offense, several gross misdemeanor charges are expected to be dismissed when he’s sentenced on January 2nd.
Kaput was on probation for a previous felony DUI conviction in Freeborn County when he drove his pickup into the back of another pickup on I-90 near Dexter. The crash left the other driver, 23-year-old Harvey Friedrichs of Rochester, with significant but non-life threatening injuries. Kaput, who had four previous drunk driving-related convictions on his criminal record, had his blood-alcohol-concentration tested at over twice the legal limit after the December 15th crash.
