Road to Tomorrow, See What Bridge Could Look Like [WATCH]
Roundabouts, love them or hate them, they are here to stay. Owatonna has one already, a mini-roundabout, on the corner of 26th St and Cedar Ave. There is another mini-roundabout being planned for the corner of Rose St and Grove. Interesting to note, Rose St is a County Rd, so that is Steele County Public Works who is doing that project.
There is a Public Hearing set for the 2020 Bridge Street Project; the City Council of the City of Owatonna, MN, will meet in Council Chambers of the City Administration Building at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 to consider three different projects including Bridge Street from I35 to 24th Ave, which could include a roundabout. The current estimated cost for this project is $3,615,377.00.
I was digging around online, and found a video of what the proposed improvements could look like. The visualization is from ISGinc.com, and they have done several other projects in both Minnesota and into Iowa, which I found by going to their portfolio on their site.
I have driven down that stretch of Bridge Street recently, and yes, the road needs some work. Perhaps the roundabout will make it easier to get out to Riverland and the businesses out there, without needing to make a full stop, especially as the different manufacturing plants are dealing with shift change, etc. According to the visualization, it will look very nice.
