The Rice County Public Health Department reminds residents as of today (July 2) there have been 827 lab confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county.  Public Health Director Deb Purfeerst says, "We continue to see widespread community transmission."

Purfeerst reminds us Independence Day celebrations will need to be different this year to ensure everyone is safe.  Family, friends and community.

Wear a cloth face covering if in public, maintain physical distancing of 6 feet, wash your hands often, and stay home if you are sick.

"As always, be careful around fireworks, closely supervise recreational water activities, remember to buckle up and drive safely on the roadways."

Purfeerst says, "Public Health wants everyone to have a safe, enjoyable holiday weekend, while avoiding illness and accidental injury."

COVID testing is still available for those with symptoms or who think they have had an exposure.  To find a local testing site, click here.
