Rice County Churches Providing Good Cheer to Needy Families
Mark Shaw, Rice County Social Services Director passed along some good news during today's Board of Commissioners meeting in the Government Services Building in Faribault.
Shaw told Commissioners, "More specifically at a time when we wonder if all is right with the world and all that is going on that doesn't seem right the good people of Most Holy Trinity Church of Veseli have provided us with $3,065 dollars in gift cards and the good people of Hosanna Lutheran Church of Northfield have provided us with $2,750 in gift cards."
Shaw continued, "As an example they provide these gift cards with ornaments and things to pass out to children and families in need and we know at this time more than ever children and families need that support and so we are grateful that they would provide these donations. We will use them judiciously to meet the needs of children and families" in need in Rice County.
Commissioner Jeff Docken expressed his gratitude for the gifts on behalf of the County Board.
Also during the meeting Commissioners approved final payments for three major road projects completed this year in the county.
- $148,834.25 to BCM Construction for Richland Township Bridge replacement
- $79,676.97 to Crane Creek Asphalt for various Bituminous Overlays
- $24,075.10 to McNamara Contracting for County 6 Pavement Rehabilitation primarily in Wheatland Township
Commissioner Jim Purfeerst expressed his pleasure with seeing three different firms gaining the work.
This is interesting for taking a trip down memory lane.
