COVID-19 cases continue in communities in Wisconsin and the entire United States. That's the reason that the Green Bay Packers have announced that they will not host fans in their first two games of the season. They shared the news yesterday in a press release. They will reevaluate after the first two games to see if fans can attend later in the season.

The decision will come after consulting with local medical and public health officials. The Packers previously announced that they wouldn't be allowing fans at preseason games. Shortly after that, the NFL announced that all preseason games would be cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Packer organization's CEO Mark Murphy has said that they hope to host fans later this year, and ask that fans do their part in social distancing.

"We are hopeful that we will be able to host fans for games later in the season, should conditions allow. We will continue to consult with community healthcare and public health officials on the pandemic conditions in our area. We ask our fans to continue to help by wearing masks and maintaining social distancing guidelines."

The Packers kick off their season versus the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium on September 13th. Their first home game is on September 20th when they host the Detroit Lions. Then the following home game is on October 5th. At that time they will evaluate if they will be having fans at Lambeau for the Nov. 1st game where they once again host the Vikings.
