The event was also postponed in 2020 due to the pandemic. The hall of fame induction ceremony each year has included a presentation at an OHS football game. While the football season was held in a modified fashion in 2020, limits were imposed on number of fans attending games. Teams anticipate a full schedule this fall. Official practice began on Monday.

The OHS Athletic Hall of Fame debuted in 1996 with ten inductees. Since then, five individuals have joined their ranks. The committee has recognized athletes, coaches and community members over the years. This is the first time teams are entering the hall.

  • 1950 boys track and field - Owatonna's first state title team
  • 1954 wrestling - state champs with an 11-0 season
  • 1974 baseball - state champions with a 17-4 record
  • 1976 girls track and field - AA state champs in first year of two classes
  • 1989 boys basketball - first of back-to-back titles with 24-1 record

When the induction occurs in 2022, a team captain or representative will speak on behalf of the team.
