The Owatonna High School girls basketball team will open the Section 1AAAA playoffs Wednesday, February 27 at Lakeville North at 7 pm. The game can be heard on AM 1390 KRFO and the KRFO app. OHS (8-16) is the seventh seed and has split their last four games. North (15-11) is 2-3 over the final five games and is the second seed. South Suburban champ Farmington is the top seed. Big Nine Conference co-champ Rochester John Marshall earned the third seed.

North is averaging 63 points per game, giving up 66. They did not play any Big Nine teams this season. The Panthers are led by Lauren Jensen with 28 points per game, according the MN Basketball Hub website. Analiese Tschida scored 15 per game and Sarah Kuma adds 11 per contest. Geneva Mattis has chipped in six per game. North finished fourth their conference.

Lakeville North beat Owatonna in the section semifinals last year. The Owatonna-North postseason rivalry has already included a boys' hockey victory for the Panthers over the Huskies. North also won the state gymnastics meet with OHS finishing third. In boys basketball, Owatonna is a virtual lock to open the sections at North as well.
