Owatonna Football Too Giving at New Prague

Owatonna committed seven turnovers and had a punt blocked in a 27-0 loss at New Prague Friday night. Additionally, a punt snap that rolled to the Huskies' one-yard line set up the Trojans for the first of several short-field drives. Three of New Prague's scoring drives started deep in Owatonna territory.

Huskies coach Jeff Williams said on Saturday's High School Coaches Show, "In a high school football game, you can generally expect that you are going to have eight possessions. And if you have a turnover on every single possession, the fact that it turned out to be a 27-0 game instead of a 60-0 game is pretty miraculous. The defense did a good job buckling down and handling very difficult circumstances."

After an interception early in the second quarter, the Trojans needed just 12 yards to go up 14-0 going into halftime. The one big offensive play of the night came on New Prague's opening drive of the second half as Brendan Pieper dashed 86 yards for a score and a 21-0 lead.

The Huskies caught a break on New Prague's next drive. The punt snap was mishandled and the Trojans gave the ball to Owatonna on the 25 yard line. However, Owatonna fumbled on third down. OHS had two fumbles and five interceptions.

New Prague kicked a pair of field goals to finish off the 27-0 game.
