Nancy Hovel from Cannon Falls was recognized as the Steele County Free Fair (SCFF) and KDHL Southern Minnesota Ag Ambassador of the year Saturday evening during the Open Class Holstein Show at the SCFF. Many years ago the SCFF and KDHL began sponsoring the program as a way to promote agriculture and recognize three finalists every year at the SCFF. Really there are three winners as finalists every year.

Nancy Hovel's family are farmers raising corn, soybeans and also are pork producers. Nancy is very involved in helping organize the Goodhue County Pork Producers Food Stand at the Goodhue County Fair and is also very involved in the Cannon Valley Fair. Nancy is a big supporter of the 4-H Program and 4-H members refer to Nancy as Mom or Grandma Hovel.

Ryan Buck from Goodhue was recognized and a finalist for the SCFF and KDHL Southern Minnesota Ag Ambassador of the year. Ryan helps on his family farm and is past President of the Minnesota Corn Growers Association. Plus Ryan works with farm families as an insurance agent. In addition Ryan is involved in many community service organizations.

Jerry Demmer from Clarks Grove also was recognized as a SCFF and KDHL finalist for the Southern Minnesota AG Ambassador of the Year. Jerry served on the Minnesota Corn Research and Promotion Council for 15 years traveling thousands of miles representing Minnesota Corn Farmers investing their money paid into the corn check-off. Jerry also is involved in many community groups and organizations.
