With nine players currently in the NHL's COVID-19 protocol, the Minnesota Wild are in the middle of a four-game pause.

The league started postponing games for the Wild starting with last Thursday's matchup against the Avalanche in Denver, followed by a pair of games that were supposed to take place this past weekend in St. Paul against the Arizona Coyotes, and tonight's game at home against the Saint Louis Blues.

No information has been revealed as to the making up of any of those games.

Now the National Hockey League has announced that at least the Minnesota Wild will have at least two more games added to the postponement list -- with their game this Thursday against the Blues in St. Paul and Saturday in Los Angeles again the Kings.

According to NBCSN.com, Minnesota Wild Bill Guerin says that currently nine Minnesota Wild players and one staff member have tested positive, and said he expects more players to be added to that list.

The teams facilities in Saint Paul have been shutdown this week during the current outbreak.

The nine Wild players currently on the NHL's COVID protocol list are Brad Hunt, Nick Bjugstad, Nick Bonino, Ian Cole, Joel Eriksson Ek, Marcus Foligno, Marcus Johansson, Jared Spurgeon and Nico Sturm.

If no additional games are postponed for the team, the Minnesota Wild would resume their 2021 schedule on Tuesday, February 16th against the Kings in LA.

The NHL is struggling to get its grasp on the pandemic as seven additional cancellations were announced today. In addition to the two Wild games, the league added two additional postponements for the Buffalo Sabres, and three more games for the New Jersey Devils.

A total of 33 games have been postponed so far in this 2021 NHL season.

Minnesota Wild games can be heard in the Saint Cloud area this season on AM 1240/95.3 FM WJON.
