Moran, Simon Combine for Ten Goals as Huskies Stay Unbeaten

Big Nine Conference leading Owatonna (7-0) kept their unbeaten season going with a 14-4 girls lacrosse win over second-place Mankato (5-3) Monday at OHS. Anni Moran scored six times. Audrey Simon tallied four goals. Madi Bruessel notched two goals. Grace Smith and Allie Keller each had a goal. Zoe Anderson got her seventh win.

Moran's 35 goals has her ninth in the state in scoring according to the Lacrosse Hub at the Star Tribune. She also has nine assists. Simon is 17th in the state with 14 assists. She also has scored 20 times. Anderson is tied for second in the state with seven victories.

The Huskies host Rochester Century Thursday. OHS beat the Panthers 5-2 in April. Owatonna will go to Rochester Mayo Saturday for a makeup game. Section 1A standings show Lakeville South is also unbeaten.

The Owatonna boys lacrosse squad jumped out to a quick lead at Mankato, but lost 12-11, their first loss to a Big Nine team. OHS plays Century/JM at John Marshall High School Friday, May 14 at 7:30 in a Kat Kountry 105 FM broadcast. The location is a change from the original schedule.

Huskies boys tennis dropped a 4-3 decision to Lakeville South Monday. OHS hosts Rochester Mayo Thursday afternoon.

In area softball, Maple River edged NRHEG 2-0, the Panthers first loss of the spring...Faribault Bethlehem Academy topped Blooming Prairie 4-1...WEM beat Medford 9-2...Byron blanked Triton 10-0.

On the local baseball diamonds, Medford shutout WEM 3-0 on Casey Chambers complete game...Blooming Prairie beat Bethlehem Academy 7-5...NRHEG doubled-up Maple River 8-4...Kenyon-Wanamingo won at Triton 13-4.
