UPDATE: MOA will delay opening until further notice
Two weeks ago, the Mall of America, along with other retailers were given the go-ahead to open at a reduced capacity. They decided that they would put this off for two more weeks until the first of June because they wanted to make sure they were ready, had people hired and trained and could open safely during this continued pandemic.
After the protests, and then the riots that have happened in the Twin Cities area, they had questioned whether or not this was the right decision to open now. Or, Monday.
There are going to have some safety measures in place for this reopen. They will reserve the elevators to those who are in wheelchairs, or need assistance. Masks will be encouraged to be worn. And they have installed some plastic barriers around the cash registers.
If you have been at Macy's here in St. Cloud since they reopened, this is similar to what you will be seeing in the Mall of America.
Food serviced will remain closed, as well as any of the attractions that are normally available at the mall. But they will continue to offer curbside delivery from the restaurants in the mall after the reopen.
We are starting to see some life return in Minnesota. Stay safe, and stay healthy.
