Local Teacher Auctioning Handmade Quilts To Provide Scholarships
ST. CLOUD -- A St. Cloud school teacher is auctioning off his handmade quilts to provide scholarships for future students.
Deacon John Wocken is a 2nd Grade teacher at St. Katharine Drexel School and has been creating quilts with his student since 1996.
Now, as he approaches retirement, those beloved quilts will be going to new homes.
Wocken plans to auction off all 27 quilts he's made to create an endowed fund for St. Katharine Drexel student scholarships.
After 27 years of quilt making, I wanted to share the incredible creations with the wider community and, in doing so, give back to the school that has provided me with so much joy.
Wocken just completed his final classroom quilt before he retires at the end of the school year.
The online auction will be open until midnight March 31st.
