Exciting news for me and my fellow beer lovers: The Surly Beer Hall in Minneapolis, Minnesota has announced a tentative reopening date! After closing their doors indefinitely in October of 2020, they are hoping to re-open on June 1st.

They made the official announcement on their website and social media yesterday, March 31st. They decided to announce a tentative reopening date because of the expansion of who can receive a COVID-19 vaccine in Minnesota, increased restaurant capacity, and Governor Walz recently announcing that “'normalcy is on the horizon, and that brighter days are ahead'”.

Surly is currently working to hire some new employees and is encouraging past employees to re-apply. They decided to set a tentative date because as we've seen throughout the pandemic, things can change very suddenly. So they didn't want to set a firm reopening date in case restrictions change.

Yes, this also means their pizza place upstairs is reopening! That pizza is so good and just the thing you need when enjoying a couple of beers. I'm excited for the beer hall to reopen. It's a fun beer 'destination' to go hang out with friends. I haven't seen anything about how they'll keep people socially distanced or anything like that but I'm sure there will be rules in place that line up with the rest of the state.

Fun fact, North Dakota's signature drink is beer. And Nebraska's is a red beer... what the heck is that?! If you keep scrolling you can find out what a red beer is and check out all of the other 50 state's signature drinks.
