I shoveled Sunday. The Wild and Timberwolves played. The Twins didn't. Welcome back to November. Many schools had a late start due to a blizzard. It isn't possibly April, is it?

The Wild needed to win Sunday. With a four-goal second period, Minnesota beat Winnipeg 6-2 and closed the gap in the series to 2-games-to-1. Game four is Tuesday at Xcel Energy Center. The weather was a big topic with the national announcers, considering they, and the Jets for that matter, barely made it to the game. The fans found their way there to pack the building.

Rookie defenseman Nick Seeler was one of the stars of Sunday's game with a pair of assists and numerous blocked shots. After being heavily outshot in the two games north of the border, the Wild put 29 pucks on net Sunday. The Jets had 31 shots. Minnesota had a pair of first-period power play goals.

The Minnesota Timberwolves kept it close, and even led at times, at Houston before falling 104-101 in the opener of their best-of-seven Western Conference quarterfinal series. James Harden scored 44 points to lead the Rockets, while Karl Anthony Townes was held to eight, as reported by the Star Tribune. Game two is Wednesday. Minnesota hosts Houston Saturday, April 21 for game three.

The Minnesota Twins were postponed for the third straight day Sunday. Prospects are good that the team plays Tuesday in Puerto Rico against the Cleveland Indians in what is considered a home series for the Twins. Now if they could only bring some of that weather back with them.

High school teams don't have the option of moving their games to a different climate, so the wait will continue for the prep spring seasons to begin. Playoffs are right around the corner.
