Minnesota Target Store Testing Nail Painting Robot – See in Action!

If you've stopped by the Duluth Target store recently, you can see that there are lots of changes coming soon, and maybe this will be one of them if a new limited test works out.

In Texas, California, and Minnesota, Target has begun testing Clockwork Minicure robots, using 3D scanning and printing, and AI technology, they are able to provide a perfect coat of nail polish in just 10 minutes.

For now, the only store in Minnesota offering the Clockwork manicure robot is the Chaska Target, and normally the price is $9.99, but they are offering first appointments for only $8. They also offer a 3-pack for $24.00.

The robot does not use gel polish, Clockwork says it only uses "polishes free of Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Formaldehyde and Toluene, and a number of other harmful substances." They also will not allow any under the age of 13 to get a Minicure.

As you can see in the video below, the robot secures your finger, scans it, and begins to lay down a layer of polish one thin line at a time starting from the outside. If you've ever seen a 3D printer work, it's the same process, except the layers would start stacking. If Clockwork could miniaturize this, and make an at-home unit, I think they'd sell millions, but for now, a Target run will have to do.

Clockwork claims that "Most people spend 60 minutes per week on their nails. That’s 3,120 minutes a year!" No way, that can't be true. I spend about 15 minutes a week chewing my nails, that's about it. Apparently, I'm doing something wrong here.
