Talk about resilience and dedication, this Minnesota 15-year-old, less than two months after being struck by a vehicle was present at a community clean-up in Crystal, that she helped organize!

On March 28, 15-year-old Jasmin was jogging across a marked crosswalk at the intersection of 32nd Avenue and Douglas Drive in Crystal, when she was struck by a vehicle. Jasmin suffered serious injuries in the crash, and according to a post by the Crystal Police Department, they were "fearing the worst." Fortunately, Jasmin is a fighter and has made remarkable progress. So much progress that she was able to be present at a community clean on May 8th, that she helped organize.

On March 28th, 15-year old Jasmin was struck by a vehicle while she was jogging across a fully-marked crosswalk. Police officers and paramedics arrived on scene and quickly cared for her very serious injuries. Deputy Chief Hubbard rode with the paramedics to assist them as they rushed Jasmin to the hospital, fearing the worst. Fortunately, she is a tenacious fighter and has been making very good progress in her recovery.
This past Saturday, Jasmin was well enough to be able to organize her 10th Annual Bassett Creek clean-up to better her neighborhood and the environment. Deputy Chief Hubbard was excited to be there to see Jasmin and help her fulfill her goal of getting the creek cleaned up. Our community is fortunate to have people like her dedicated to serving others and making this a great place to live.
As we move into summer, Jasmin’s story is a very important reminder for drivers of the importance of paying extra attention to crosswalks and intersections for pedestrians!
Crystal's Police Deputy Chief, Brian Hubbard, was one of the first responders at the scene of the crash and rode with Jasmin to the hospital. Hubbard was on hand for the clean-up, helped clean Bassett Creek with the other volunteers, and took a picture with Jasmin.
Crystal Police shared Jasmin's incredible story as a reminder to all drivers to pay attention to intersections and crosswalks for pedestrians crossing. And with the warmer weather, more pedestrians are out and about, drivers should simply slow down and pay attention.
