Minnesota Patients Test Negative For New Coronavirus
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - State health officials say results on the samples submitted to be tested for the new coronavirus last week came back negative.
The Minnesota Department of Health says the samples came from two people who developed symptoms of respiratory infections shortly after visiting the area in China where the novel virus first emerged. Officials say the test results from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicate the two individuals are not infected.
State health authorities say the risk posed by the new coronavirus to the general public is low, but anyone who has traveled to China and develops cold-like symptoms is being asked to contact their health care provider for possible testing as part of the health department’s response to the new virus.
