Minnesota COVID ICU Patient Total Drops Below 200
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The number of Minnesotans hospitalized due to COVID-19 has dropped below 900 for the first time in almost two months.
After peaking a month ago, coronavirus-related hospitalizations have been steadily dropping in Minnesota and currently total 895. 196 of those patients are being treated in intensive care. It's the first time that number has been below 200 since November 3rd.
Yesterday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported another 61 coronavirus-related deaths throughout the state. 2 of the deaths involved residents of Olmsted County who were in their late 70s. There have now been 61 COVID deaths in the county since the start of the pandemic.
Just over 2200 new cases were reported statewide on Thursday, including 101 new infections in Olmsted County. The daily testing positivity rate was about 5.1 percent with over 42,750 tests completed.
