Who says politics can't be sweet?

A bakery in Red Wing, Minnesota is predicting the 2020 election results via cookie sales. Hanish Bakery and Coffee Shop is hosting a cookie poll for 2020 where they count votes as cookies sold. They are offering three options, a Trump cookie, a Biden cookie, and the third option which is a poop emoji. They gave an update on the standings over the weekend of October 17th:

Lines at the cookie polling place of Hanisch Bakery and Coffee Shop have been long and we appreciate your patience so much!!! Donald J. Trump passes 10,000 Votes to command a HUUUUUUGE lead. Joe Biden went past 3,000 Votes and The Poop Emoji hits 282.

Cookie polls aren't anything new, they have been happening for a lot of previous presidential elections. A bakery out in Pennsylvania, Lochel's Bakery, actually claims that their previous polls have all predicted the actual outcome of the last couple of elections. Lochel's is so known for their cookie polls that Eric Trump visited them last week.

Hanish Bakery's cookie poll started back in 1984 during the Mondale-Reagan election. Owner Bill Hanish told Do It North:

“Our cookie poll has always followed the popular vote, including in 2016 for Hillary Clinton, and 2000 when Al Gore won.”

Could that mean this huge lead that Trump has translate into actual votes? I guess we will have to wait until November to find out.

The cookies at Hanish Bakery are buttercream cookies with blue, white, and red frosting. Each costs $4 and counts as one vote for the candidate on the icing. For updates on how the candidates are doing in the sugary polls, be sure to follow Hanish Bakery and Coffee Shop on Facebook.
