Martin S. Schwartz of Owatonna, MN, died May 24, 2024, at Mill City Senior Living in Faribault, MN.

Friends may greet the family on Saturday, June 1, 2024, starting at 1:00 pm, followed by a prayer service at 3:00 pm at Brick – Meger Funeral Home (1603 Austin Road, Owatonna).

Martin was born August 6, 1939, in Hewitt, MN, the son of Leonard B. and Mathilda (Kaufman) Schwartz. Martin graduated from high school in 1957 in Verndale, MN. While in high school, he worked at a local grocery store. Following high school, Martin worked for JCPenney and Gibson stores. He was united in marriage to Lelia M. Bramer on July 27, 1957, in Wadena, MN. The family made their home in Owatonna, raising four children. Marty worked as a mason for over 25 years for Bob Schuette Masonry in Owatonna until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of the Owatonna Elk’s, Civil Defense Corps, and the Steele County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse. Marty’s life interests include hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and visiting with friends.

Marty is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lelia; children Robert Schwartz of Owatonna, Rebecca (Seb) Gillen of Faribault, Rodney Schwartz (Chrissy) of Rochester; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings Steve (Gail) Schwartz of Cloquet, MN, Dorothy Lehner of Staples, MN, and Barb (Roman) Moench of Wadena, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son Rick.
