Man & Woman Accused of Stealing Snowmobile from Fatal Minnesota Crash Victim
Beltrami County, MN (KROC-AM News)- A snowmobile reported stolen from the scene of a fatal Minnesota crash has been returned to its rightful owner.
The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the report of a snowmobile crash on February 19 along the Soo Line Trail. Investigators determined the sled had crashed with a tractor trailer.
The female operator died at the scene from injuries she suffered in the crash. A news release says family and friends of the fatal crash victim returned to the scene to collect the snowmobiles and found one of the sleds, belonging to the family of the crash victim, had been stolen.

Deputies followed tracks and began following up on leads and tracked a sled to a property west of the fatal crash site in Dudley Township. Law enforcement then executed a search warrant at the property on February 20 and found the stolen sled, officials say.
Authorities arrested a man and woman on suspicion of felony theft. The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office took possession of the machine and returned it to the family of the fatal crash victim.
The names of the crash victim and the man and woman accused of stealing the snowmobile have not been released.
