Some thoughts have been bouncing around in my head and they are just bursting to get out.

1) The other day around 6 p.m., I noticed it was still light out. Now I know the sun has been staying up later since Dec. 22, but it finally caught my attention. Then we looked at the calendar for the end of Daylight Savings Time, which is March 8. In Australia and New Zealand, it is one month later.

Is there any reason for Daylight Savings Time? Arizona, Hawaii and some U.S. territories remain on standard time year-round. Maybe the rest of us should, too.

2) The next topic, desktop wallpaper. My husband changes the wallpaper on his computer many, many times throughout the year from movie scenes to seasonal pictures. It is kind of fun to see what will be there except when it's creepy. I keep it simple: black cats.

3) A couple of years ago, we cut the satellite cord. So, we watch stations from Rochester and Austin, Minn., and Mason City, Iowa. Just a side note, the number of PBS and network channels equals the number of news channels on satellite/cable. Back to my original thought, at one time it was reruns of network shows on satellite/cable and now I've noticed some rerun shows from satellite/cable on network channels.

Now there's room for more ideas to come bouncing in.

The sun is shining above ... Think Happy Thoughts.
