Learn All About The Northern Lights
Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights, is something most of us have seen or at least heard about. They are a natural light display that occurs in the sky and can be quite spectacular to see.
If you're from the Twin Ports area like I am, or farther north, you've probably had the chance to see them for yourself. Usually when weather conditions will be right for them, you'll hear about it on the news. I myself have been able to see them several times and the best time, when it felt like they were surrounding me was only about a half hour north of Duluth.
While you may know what the Northern Lights are, you might not know the in depth scientific explanation of why and when they occur. Thanks to The University of Minnesota Duluth, you can learn all about them for free. On Wednesday, February 10th at 7:00PM you can stream the event put on by the Marshall W. Alworth Planetarium.
The presentation will discuss what causes the Northern Lights, and when the best time to watch them is. The staff at the planetarium always do a great job getting into the science behind nature and it's free for the whole family to enjoy.
