Kenyon-Wanamingo Girls Basketball Starts Playoffs in Winona
The Kenyon-Wanamingo girls basketball team goes to Winona Cotter to begin the Section 1 Class 2A playoffs Thursday. The Knights (7-16) are the #13 seed and Cotter (20-4) is #4. The top seed Lake City Tigers (18-5) play either Cannon Falls or Chatfield in their first game. The Bombers and Gophers have a play-in game Tuesday. #2 seed Caledonia (20-4) hosts #15 Lewiston-Altura (10-16). #3 seed Rochester Lourdes (18-7) faces #14 LaCrescent-Hokah (7-18).
The Winona Cotter Ramblers are ranked #15 in the latest Minnesota Basketball News girls basketball rankings. To show you how tough this section is, Stewartville (16-8) is the #6 seed and ranked #12 in the state. The Tigers will play #11 Triton (12-13) on Thursday.
Zumbrota-Mazeppa (19-6) received the #5 seed and is rated #16 in the state. The Cougars host #12 Byron (6-17) Thursday. #10 Pine Island (10-16) goes to #7 Dover-Eyota (17-8). #8 St. Charles (15-9) has #9 Plainview-Elgin-Millville (12-13) in their gym.
