Minneapolis (KROC AM News) - It’s judgment day for Kim Potter.

The former Brooklyn Center police officer is facing a recommended prison sentence for the 2021 fatal shooting of Daunte Wright.

She was convicted in December of 1st and 2nd-degree murder. Under state sentencing guidelines Potter is facing a prison term of 86 months.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison’s office prosecuted the case and has backed off an earlier request to seek a longer sentence. Her attorney is seeking probation or a lower prison sentence.

The sentencing hearing is scheduled to begin at 9:00 am.
