Not going to lie… I think I might be in love. And no, not with a person. With a house!

It’s been a minute since I’ve clicked through listing photos and had all the feels, but this 1947 stunner overlooking Lake Phalen did something to me.

The spiral staircase alone would’ve been enough to win me over. But then you see the bold colors, the built-ins, the windows for days, and that dreamy eat-in kitchen with built-in booth seating… and suddenly you’re emotionally attached to a house you don’t even live in.

Safe to say I'm obsessed!

And honestly, there’s just so much more to love. The balcony overlooking the water is basically begging for morning coffee or evening cocktails while you watch the light shimmer across the lake - ahh, what a dream.

Don’t mind me over here daydreaming about my future home. I can see myself enjoying literally every nook and cranny of this space - soaking up those epic lake views and rearranging absolutely nothing because it’s already perfect.

I actually stumbled across this home because it was featured in For the Love of Old Houses, a page dedicated to connecting old house lovers with their dream properties. And oh boy, they knew exactly what they were doing when they shared this one.

I’m obsessed with old houses, the quirks, the intentional details, all the character, and the fact that nothing is cookie cutter. And this one? The story behind it makes it even better.

According to the listing, back in 1947, retired railroad engineer P. Gottfried Seaholm built this home for his family on an expansive double lot overlooking sunsets on Lake Phalen. It’s a rare example of Streamline Moderne design, a style that captures the optimism and elegance of its era, and you can feel that thoughtful vision in every curve and built-in.

And honestly, knowing it was built with that kind of intention just makes me love it more. If you think it’s just me losing it over a house… scroll through the gallery below. I dare you not to fall in love as well.
