HyVee Will be Closed on Thanksgiving for the First Time Ever
Minnesotans and people across the country will need to make sure they have everything for their Thanksgiving meals ahead of time because HyVee has announced they won't be open on Thanksgiving Day.
I think this is fantastic! Good on HyVee for giving their employees the holiday off. I do feel for the people who realize on Thanksgiving Day that they forgot to buy ONE thing... but overall definitely a good decision.
HyVee Closing on Thanksgiving Day for the First Time in 92 Year History
This will be the first time in HyVee's 92 years that they'll be closed on Thanksgiving. In their press release, this includes all "Hy-Vee grocery stores, Dollar Fresh Markets, Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh locations, Wall to Wall Wine and Spirits locations, and Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits locations". They do note that you'll still be able to get gas from their Fast and Fresh locations on Thanksgiving, you'll just have to pay at the pump.
The president and CEO of HyVee, Jeremy Gosch, said, "this is our way of showing our appreciation for everything they do on a daily basis to serve our customers". HyVee joins many other stores, like Target, who will be closed on Thanksgiving.
I hope this trend continues, especially with stores like Target. Black Friday shopping should start on Black Friday, not on Thanksgiving when we're supposed to be gathered with friends and family and being thankful for everything we have.
What If You Buy Holiday Meal Packs from HyVee?
HyVee offers these holiday meal packs for customers to buy for their Thanksgiving meal. That is still an option, you'll just have to set up a time to pick it up in-store the day before Thanksgiving or a curbside pick-up option will be available Thanksgiving Day between 8 and 11 AM.
