Minnesota Amateur Baseball Regions Underway
Regions in Class C and Sections in Class B opened this weekend throughout Minnesota with some upsets in nearby Region 5C being played in Cannon Falls.
#8 seed Dodge County Diamondbacks upended top seed Red Wing 8-5 to start the day followed by host #5 seed Cannon Falls dominating #4 Wanamingo 9-3,
On the other side of the bracket the only higher seed to win #2 Austin doubled #7 Owatonna 10-5 and #6 Stewartville-Racine bested #3 Hastings 5-2
Scheduled for today are Red Wing vs. Wanamingo 10:00 a.m. and Owatonna vs. Hastings 7:00 p.m. in Elimination bracket games,
Winner's bracket contests are Dodge County vs. Cannon Falls at 1:00 p.m. and Austin vs. Stewartville-Racine at 4:00 p.m.
All games today are scheduled for John Burch Park in Cannon Falls.
In Region 6C played at the Mini-Met in Jordan the day started with an 11-inning 5-4 win for Blue Earth over Le Sueur.
Gaylord then blanked Morristown 4-0 followed by Belle Plaine bouncing Waterville 5-2 and host Jordan had no problems with Waseca in a 12-2 victory in 8-innings.
Elimination bracket games today include Le Sueur vs. Morristown at 11:00 a.m. and Waterville tangles with Waseca 1:30 p.m.
In the Winner's bracket at 4:30 p.m. Gaylord Islanders collide with Blue Earth Pirates and at 7:30 p.m. Jordan Brewers face Belle Plaine.
In Section 1B action today following Friday competition, all games today are scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
- St. Patrick at Hampton (Irish won 5-4 Friday)
- Miesville at Elko (Express won 11-0 Friday)
- Rochester Royals at Northfield (Royals won 16-3 Friday)
- Dundas Dukes at New Market Muskies (Muskies won 13-1 Friday)
Region 3C action today has top seed Faribault scheduled to host Montgomery at 2:00 p.m. The winner will be at state either as #1 or #2 team from Region.
Saturday Union Hill punched their ticket to state with a 14-1 win over Lonsdale in seven innings.
The Aces await the Elimination bracket winner between Shakopee and New Prague playing at 2:00 p.m. today in the Orioles ballpark.
Veseli ended the St. Benedict Saints season with a 8-2 win Saturday. The Warriors await the outcome of today's Faribault game and will play the loser of that contest on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 7:30 p.m.
