The Bethlehem Academy Cardinals and Randolph Rockets will not play for the state title against each other because they are in the same bracket.

The coaches involved in the tournament have Randolph #1 and BA #4 among the five teams that receive a seeding.

The Cardinals (20-2) open with #5 seed Edgerton/SW MN Christian (16-6).

BA's QRF is 10, Flying Dutchmen is 12.

Edgerton/SW MN Christian averages 7.2 and gives up 2.9 runs per game this season while the Cardinals allow 1.9 and score 8.5 runs per contest.

Bethlehem Academy went into the Section 1A Tournament averaging around 10 runs a game with every batter hitting .300 or better.  That went down considerably with a couple of 1-0 games.

They did not have much luck either hitting into multiple double plays and a triple play which is rare in fast pitch softball.

Tougher competition will be expected at state when they open at 1:30 p.m. on Field 2 at Caswell Park in North Mankato.

The Randolph Rockets (22-1) are #1 seed, have a very tough draw in the Upsala Cardinals (23-2).

The Rockets are #3 in QRF, Cardinals #4 QRF.

Randolph averages 10.7, allows 0.9 runs per game while Upsala scores 8 runs and gives up 2 per contest.

The Rockets and Bethlehem Academy are both in the Gopher Conference where Randolph went undefeated.

Randolph will play on Field 1 in Caswell Park.  Rockets sophomore pitcher Carter Raymond has 14 shutouts this season.

#2 seed Badger/Greenbush-Middle River (24-1) actually has the #1 QRF while averaging 10.2 and allowing 2.2 runs per game.

The Gators were the Agassiz Valley Conference Champions.  They have a 17-game winning streak.

Their opponent is the Menagha Braves (18-8) with a #8 QRF, averaging 8.3 runs and allowing 4.7 a game.

#3 seed Moose Lake/Willow River (21-3) has a QRF of 2 averaging 10.2 runs and giving up 1.6 per contest.

The Rebels will open with New Ulm Cathedral (79-6) with a QRF of 7 averaging 7 runs and allowing 2.6 a game.

The Greyhounds finished second in the Tomahawk Conference to Sleepy Eye St. Mary's and had to beat them twice in sections to make it to the big show.

Class AA Tournament #1 seed was the #4 seed in their Section 2 Tournament.  LeSueur-Henderson (20-5) has a #2 QRF, scoring 9 runs and giving up 3.2 a game.

The Giants will open competition against Pequot Lakes (24-3) with a #13 QRF, averaging 8.8 runs and allowing 0.8.  The Eagles have landed in a tough spot to start the tournament.

Section 1 Champion St. Charles (23-2) is #2 seed with #4 QRF.  The Saints march into the state tournament averaging 8.2 runs while giving up 1 run a game.

Their opponent, Watertown-Mayer (17-9) could be a sleeper here.  The Royals came out of Section 5 which boasted 7 teams in the top 21 of QRF.

Watertown-Mayer is the #21 QRF averaging 6 runs while allowing 3.8 per game.

#3 seed Proctor Rails (20-4) is #6 QRF averaging 7.4 runs a game while giving up 2.5.

The Rails open with St. Agnes (20-4), QRF #14, scoring 8.4 and giving up 2.5 runs a game.

#4 seed Pipestone Area Arrows (20-5), QRF #7 scores 8.4 and allows 2.5 runs this season,

#5 seed Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (23-2) averages 1.2 runs a game and gives up an average of 2.6.

Class 3A Tournament #1 and #2 seeds are from the Big Nine Conference which will surprise nobody who follows the sport.

#1 seed Mankato East (21-3) has the #1 QRF while scoring 8.1 runs and allowing 1.9 each game.

The Cougars open with the Rocori Spartans (14-9), QRF #21, averaging 6.9 runs and giving up 4.9 runs per contest,

#2 seed Winona Winhawks (20-2) with #2 QRF have won 9 straight games while scoring 9.6 and allowing 1 run a game during the season.

The Winhawks random draw is the Delano Tigers (20-3) with #13 QRF also riding a 9-game winning streak while averaging 10.3 and allowing 3.1 runs per game.

#3 seed Chisago Lakes Area (19-4) has a #3 QRF, averaging 5.9 and giving up 2 runs a game.

The Wildcats will tangle with Academy of Holy Angels (18-4) with QRF #4, scoring 8.9 runs and allowing 2.5 each game on average.

#4 seed Becker Bulldogs (17-6) with QRF #7 compete against #5 seed Cretin-Derham Hall (16-8) with QRF #8. The Raiders average 7.3 runs and give up 4.3 runs per game while Becker scores 5.2 and allows 3.3 this season.

Class 3A games are scheduled for 11:15 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023, with Consolation title at 10:30 a.m., Third Place game 12:30 p.m. and state championship game at 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Class 4A includes the biggest schools in Minnesota.  Opening day games are 9:00 a.m. with the second games at 3:45 p.m.

Consolation title is 9:00 a.m. Friday with Third Place at 11:15 a.m. and Championship 1:00 p.m.

#1 seed Rosemount Irish (23-0) have a #2 QRF (explain that to me please) #1 QRF is Maple Grove with 2 losses.

The Irish average 10.2 runs and give up 1.5 this season.  They begin competition with the Hopkins Royals (15-7) with QRF #10, scoring 6.9 and allowing 4.5 runs per contest.

The Crimson of Maple Grove will play a South Suburban Conference team in the Farmington Tigers (17-9) with a #15 QRF who had to win twice over Lakeville North to get to state.

There are three South Suburban Conference teams at state and none of them play each other in the first round.  Two were random draws and Rosemount is #1 seed.

Maple Grove scores 4.6 runs, allows 1.2 and has won seven consecutive games,

The Tigers average 5.8 runs and give up 3.8 a game while playing in arguably the toughest 4A Conference in the state.

#3 seed Forest Lake Rangers (20-3) with #4 QRF will open with Shakopee Sabres (20-4) and QRF #7.

Shakopee scores 6.8 and allows 3.8 runs a game while Forest Lake crosses the plate 7.5 times and gives up 1.3 runs per contest.

#4 seed White Bear Lakes Area Bears (20-4), #5 QRF will compete against #3 QRF, #5 seed St. Michael-Albertville (21-3).

The Knights average 7 runs and allow 2.8 a game while the Bears score 5.2 and hold opponents to 1.5 runs a game this season.
