SE Minnesota Head-On Crash Leaves 1 Man Dead and 4 People Injured

Hastings, MN (KROC-AM News) - One person was killed and four others were injured in a head-on crash Friday evening near Hastings.

The State Patrol says 47-year-old Brian Bigalke of Hastings was driving a small minivan east on Highway 55 when his vehicle crossed over onto the westbound lane and collided with an SUV traveling in the opposite direction. Bigalke was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which was reported around 6:15 PM, about 2 miles west of Hastings.

All four occupants of the second vehicle were transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. The State Patrol identified the driver as 54-year-old Rebecca Voelkel of Minneapolis.

Her passengers were identified as 68-year-old Maggie George of Minneapolis, 67-year-old Susan George of Minneapolis, and 73-year-old Michael George of Kentfield, California. They were all wearing seatbelts and their injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
