Harmony, MN (KROC-AM News)- The southeast Minnesota infant girl who died after she was kicked in the head by a pony earlier this week has been identified.

A news release issued earlier this week by the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office says the deadly incident happened on Tuesday afternoon at a home north of Harmony.

The seven-month-old was flown to St. Marys hospital in Rochester after she was kicked. Authorities say she later died from her injuries.

Southern MN Regional Medical Examiner's Office ID's 7-Month-Old Girl Who Died After Being Kicked by Pony During Wagon Ride Near Harmony

The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the baby girl as Ruth Stutzman. She was born on March 1.

A preliminary investigation indicates she was riding with an adult family member in a wagon being pulled by the pony when the pony became spooked and kicked her. 

The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office and the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating. 

Harmony Ambulance, the Harmony Fire Department, and the Preston Police Department also responded to the scene of the tragic incident.
