Rochester Woman Sentenced in Robbery and Stabbing Case
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester woman has received a jail sentence for her involvement in a robbery and stabbing that occurred more than four years ago.
Plea Agreement in 4-Year-Old Rochester Criminal Case
Thirty-four-year-old Saynab Farah Ahmed recently entered into a plea agreement and admitted to a charge of aiding an offender. In exchange, a first-degree aggravated robbery charge and a count of simple robbery were dismissed.
Sentenced to Jail and Probation
Olmsted County court documents indicate Ahmed has been sentenced to one year in jail, but she was given credit for 230 days already served, which will keep her behind bars for approximately another 4½ months. She was also sentenced to five years on probation and received a stayed 42-month prison sentence that could be imposed if she fails to successfully complete probation.
Police Found Victim With Blood on Face and Shirt
According to the criminal complaint filed against her in July 2022, Ahmed and 43-year-old Bashir Addullahi Farah were arrested on April 5, 2022, after Rochester police responded to a disorderly conduct report at a southeast Rochester apartment. When officers arrived, they heard a man yelling for help, and after forcing their way into the apartment, they found him leaning against a wall with blood on his shirt and face.
Officers also found Ahmed and Farah inside the apartment and took them into custody on unrelated warrants.
Robbed of Drugs and Phone
The criminal complaint says the victim told officers that Farah had invited him to the apartment to sell marijuana, but the person who was supposed to bring the money for the transaction never arrived. The victim stated that he eventually decided to leave the residence but was confronted by Farah, who was armed with a knife.
Stabbed in Face and Shoulder
The court document says Ahmed was accused of blocking the victim's exit while Farah robbed him of the marijuana and his phone before stabbing him in the face and shoulder. The victim also told police that Ahmed went through his pockets searching for money.
Around that time, officers arrived at the scene and began knocking on the door before eventually forcing their way into the apartment, where they found Farah hiding in a closet. The criminal complaint also says the victim's cellphone was later found with Ahmed's property after she was processed into the Olmsted County jail.

Stabber Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison
Farah was later convicted of first-degree aggravated robbery and second-degree assault in the case. He is currently serving a 15-year prison sentence.
