Rochester Woman Accused of Striking People & Squad Car Convicted
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A young Rochester woman has admitted to a felony charge connected to a drunk driving incident in July that injured two pedestrians and damaged a Rochester Police Department squad car.
According to the criminal complaint against 22-year-old Hafsa Mohamed, she was accused of striking a man and woman with her vehicle in the parking lot of the Riverview Suites apartment complex at 211 First Street Northeast in downtown Rochester in the early morning of July 3. The court document says one of the victims told police that she had been involved in a conflict with Mohamed, who then got into her car and drove at her and her boyfriend, who was struck and run over by the vehicle.
Victim Treated For Broken Leg
The victim reported that she was also struck by the car but was not hurt. The criminal complaint says the victim’s boyfriend was transported to St. Marys Hospital, where he was treated for a broken leg and other injuries.

Squad Car Rammed During Incident
The court document also states that the first officer to arrive at the scene used his squad car to block the exit of the parking lot in an effort to prevent Mohamed from driving away. The officer described how Mohamed responded by ramming the squad car several times. After that incident, the criminal complaint says Mohamed told another officer that she had “hit the police car because she was not wearing her glasses.”
The officer also reported that Mohamed’s eyes were bloodshot and watery and that he detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her. A preliminary breath test conducted at the scene measured her blood-alcohol concentration at more than .14. The criminal complaint says testing of a blood sample later obtained from Mohamed at the Olmsted County Jail put her BAC at more than .12.
Plea Agreement Reached Earlier This Week
She was charged with felony counts of second- and third-degree assault and criminal vehicular operation, along with gross misdemeanor damage to property, two misdemeanor DWI counts, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

Under a plea agreement reached earlier this week with the Olmsted County Attorney’s Office, Mohamed entered a guilty plea to the felony criminal vehicular operation charge. In exchange, prosecutors agreed to dismiss all of the other charges.
Mohamed is scheduled to be sentenced next month.
