Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man previously convicted of felony assault for his involvement in a shooting is now headed back to prison for a felony drug conviction.

Olmsted County court documents indicate that 31-year-old Jervontia Allen entered into a plea agreement last November to settle five criminal cases filed against him during the previous two years. The list includes the drug case, two DWI offenses, and another for driving after cancellation.

2024 Drug Bust

The criminal complaint in the drug case says Allen was arrested following a traffic stop in northwest Rochester in July 2024. Olmsted County deputies reported observing drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, which resulted in a search and the discovery of more than 27 grams of cocaine.

He was charged with third-degree drug possession, gross misdemeanor driving after cancellation inimical to public safety, and a misdemeanor charge of having an open package of cannabis in a motor vehicle. Allen was also charged earlier last year with failure to appear for a court hearing in the drug case.

Ordered to Prison

Under the terms of his plea agreement, Allen admitted to the third-degree drug possession charge, failure to appear in court, which is also a felony, and two counts of third-degree DWI. He was sentenced this week to 49 months in prison with credit for 251 days he has already served in jail.

Criminal Past

Court records show that Allen was previously convicted of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon in connection with a shooting in Rochester that occurred in the summer of 2020. Court documents indicate the conviction stemmed from an investigation into a shooting reported in the vicinity of Riverside Elementary School that left a man with a gunshot wound to his foot.
