
North Mankato Fire Leaves Girl and Woman with Severe Burns
North Mankato, MN (KROC-AM News) - A young girl and a woman were seriously injured in a house fire this morning in North Mankato.
The North Mankato Fire Department says firefighters and North Mankato police officers were dispatched shortly before 5:30 a.m. to a report of a residential structure fire. A news release says initial reports indicated people were still inside the home.
When they arrived at the scene, police officers reported seeing heavy flames and smoke coming from the second story of the house. The officers then assisted in evacuating four of the home’s occupants without any injuries.

Victims Suffer Severe Burns in Morning Fire
Once firefighters arrived, they entered the burning home and rescued a 41-year-old woman and a 12-year-old girl. The news release says both had suffered severe burns.
The fire victims were initially transported by ambulance to a Mayo Clinic Health System hospital in Mankato before being airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center. Information about their current medical conditions is unavailable.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting with the investigation into the cause of the fire.
