
Attempt to Elude Police Ends in Crash Into Building in Faribault
Faribault, MN (KROC-AM News) - A 15-year-old girl was taken to a hospital with injuries suffered in a crash that followed a brief police pursuit in Faribault Saturday morning.
The Faribault Police Department says the incident began around 11:15 a.m. when an officer attempted a traffic stop. A news release says the driver, identified by the State Patrol as a 16-year-old boy, failed to pull over. That led to a brief pursuit, which was terminated by the officer due to public safety concerns.
16-Year-Old Driver Crashes Into Building
The statement says Faribault police officers positioned along Highway 60 witnessed the suspect vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed before it crashed into a building. The State Patrol report says the teenage driver lost control while crossing over First Avenue Northeast in Faribault before colliding with the building.
Faribault police reported that both occupants of the vehicle attempted to flee on foot but were taken into custody with assistance from the Rice County Sheriff’s Office and the State Patrol.
15-Year-Old Passenger Injured, Taken to Hospital
The preliminary crash report from the State Patrol indicates the juvenile girl was taken to District One Hospital in Faribault with non-life-threatening injuries. The 16-year-old boy was not hurt.
