
Fugitive in Southeast MN Manslaughter Case Arrested After Chase Across Frozen Minnesota Lake
Albert Lea, MN (KROC-AM News)- A man convicted in a 2020 southeast Minnesota murder case was captured after a pursuit in Albert Lea Thursday morning.

A news release issued by the Albert Lea Police Department says he was riding in a vehicle that was being followed by agents with the Minnesota Department of Corrections.
The news release indicates he was wanted by the state agency for violating the terms of his supervised release.

Austin Man Serving Supervised Release Portion of Manslaughter Sentence Captured After Pursuit on Fountain Lake
Albert Lea police identified the fugitive as 22-year-old Nickalos DeWayne Taylor of Austin. Officers stopped the vehicle in the area of Fountain St. and Bridge Ave.
During the stop, Taylor got out of the vehicle and fled on foot, the news release says. Taylor then ran onto a frozen Fountain Lake with officers pursuing him on foot, police say.
Law enforcement established a perimeter around the lake and eventually took him into custody without further incident, the news release says.
Court records indicate Taylor entered a plea agreement in August of 2022 in which he agreed to plead guilty to a second-degree manslaughter charge in exchange for the dismissal of robbery and assault counts.
Taylor was sentenced to 69 months in prison in the case. He was given credit for 416 days spent behind bars and began serving the supervised release portion of his term in September.

He was one of three people charged for the 2020 death of 75-year-old David Hall, which occurred during drug robbery.
