St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities have captured a man who was wanted for crimes related to child sex abuse material in southeastern Minnesota

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) issued a request for public assistance last month asking for help with locating 36-year-old William Guy Amick III. His whereabouts were unknown since May of 2023. 

Amick III is facing 13 felony charges related to child sexual abuse material in Fillmore County

The charges filed against him in two cases are related to child sexual abuse material including using minors in sexual performance, soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct, and possession of pornographic work involving a minor.

There are multiple victims in the cases. They range in age from newborn to seven years old.

He was charged in the cases in April, court records say. Amick III lived in Mabel and Rushford for about two years until he disappeared last May. 

Man Wanted for Fillmore County Child Sex Crimes Captured in Michigan

A news release issued by the BCA on Wednesday says members of the U.S. Marshal’s Service captured Amick III in Milan, MI, which is a small town southwest of Detroit, on Tuesday.

Authorities say he’s being held in the Washtenaw County Jail in Michigan and is awaiting extradition back to Minnesota. The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office and BCA are continuing the investigation. 

The U.S. Marshal’s and the FBI are providing assistance.
