
Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office ID’s Family Involved in Fatal Shooting at Rural Home
Alden, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office has identified the family involved in a fatal shooting at a rural property near Alden on Wednesday.

One person was killed and two others were wounded. Deputies responded to the report of a disturbance then shooting at a property located about 14 miles northwest of Albert Lea around 5:15 p.m.
The fatal shooting occurred in the 23000 block of 630 Ave.
45-Year-Old Man Killed in Freeborn County Shooting Identified
The homeowners, identified as 71-year-old Dave Peterson and 69-year-old Sheri Petersen along with their son, identified as 45-year-old Joshua Petersen, were all found to have been suffering from gunshot wounds, authorities say.
Joshua, who was believed to have been residing outside of Minnesota, had two gunshot wounds to his chest.

He was transported from the scene to Alden by ground ambulance before being stabilized and flown to St. Mary’s Hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday, a previous news release says.
Dave and Sheri’s wounds were described as non-life-threatening. They were transported by ground ambulance for further care.
Authorities identified a fourth person at the scene as 47-year-old Jason Petersen.

Jason is also Dave and Sheri’s son, an updated news release says. He was later treated for injuries.
Two children were at the home at the time of the shooting. They were unharmed and picked up by their mother, authorities say.

Deputies detained Jason, Dave and Sheri for questioning before releasing them.
The news release says Dave and Sheri had taken out a harassment restraining order against Joshua. Jason also had a restraining order against Joshua that expired last year.

Joshua had active arrest warrants for violating the order filed by his parents, the news release says.
Authorities did not say if they have identified the shooter. The deadly shooting remains under investigation.
