Austin, MN (KROC-AM News) - The State Patrol responded to a deadly semi-truck crash early today on I-90 in Mower County.

The crash was reported around 1:20 a.m. just east of Austin. The State Patrol says the semi-truck was traveling west on the freeway when it went off the roadway and rolled onto its side in the median ditch.

Fatal Truck Crash

The driver, identified as 41-year-old Geeesh Joseph of Kitchener, Ontario, was transported by Mayo Clinic Ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No Seat Belt

The passenger, 45-year-old Ajish Thomas of London, Ontario, was pronounced dead at the scene. The State Patrol crash report indicates he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Anoher I-90 Crash

Another crash along I-90 in southeastern Minnesota occurred Sunday night.

The State Patrol says a car was traveling east on the freeway in Winona County when the driver lost control and crashed into a guardrail and the concrete median bridge wall. The crash was reported around 8:30 p.m. near the Lewiston exit, where snow and ice were present on the roadway.

Teenage Motorist

The State Patrol says the driver was the lone occupant of the vehicle. Nineteen-year-old Haben Amaniel Neguse of Rushmore was transported to a Winona hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
